New Year's resolutions

It’s that time of year again when we think about making a New Year’s resolution.

Whether it’s to be healthier, kinder, more thoughtful or do something new, it is a tradition in which a person resolves to change an undesired behaviour or to accomplish a personal goal, but generally improve their life.

We usually make our New Year’s resolution this evening and may even keep it for a few weeks, continue with it for the year ahead or simply forget about it by tomorrow but some resolutions may be simple and fun to do.

Learning another language can be fun, interesting and culturally diverse but it also has other benefits.   It helps the brain to function better.

Research has shown that it can delay the onset of diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia by as much as five years.  Bilingualism may not necessarily make you smarter but it does make your brain more healthy, complex and actively engaged.
